Overview

Spain's RAEE system implements the EU WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU) through Royal Decree 110/2015. All producers of electrical and electronic equipment — including manufacturers, importers, and e-commerce sellers shipping to Spain — must register with the national Registro Integrado and coordinate with approved Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs). As of January 2025, Spain introduced stricter criteria for registration accuracy, product classification, and environmental traceability through centralized digital infrastructure. Producers must file annual and quarterly reports and obtain WEEE compliance certificates. Fees are eco-modulated based on device type, weight, and recyclability, with higher costs for harder-to-recycle devices. Foreign producers must appoint an authorized representative within Spain.
