Address verification checks the shipping address after the order is placed and lets the customer fix a mistake on the Thank you page or the Order status page. It is part of the Pro plan.
Before you start
Open Address Ninja in your Shopify admin and choose Address verification in the app's menu. The page shows a short setup guide with three steps. Turn on works once you have allowed order access and saved your countries.
Step 1: Allow order access
Press Allow order access. Shopify asks you to approve two permissions: orders, so the app can read the shipping address and update it when the customer chooses a suggestion, and customers, so the Order status page can show the suggestion to a signed-in customer. Approve, and you are back on the page. Address verification cannot be turned on without both.
Step 2: Choose countries
In the Countries card, pick one of:
- All countries
- Only these countries, then choose the countries to verify
- Except these countries, then choose the countries to leave out
Save. An order shipping to a country you left out is not verified and uses no verification.
Step 3: Add the block to the Thank you and Order status pages
Press Open Thank you page. The checkout editor opens on that page. Press Add block, pick Address Ninja Fix Address, and save. Then press Open Order status page and do the same.
Turn it on
Press Turn on. From now on every new order to a chosen country is verified. Turn off stops it at any time; nothing else changes.
Try it
Under Test an address, enter an address and press Verify address. The result shows what a customer would see. A test uses one verification, the same as an order, and is billed as an extra verification once the included ones are used. For a real address in the US or Puerto Rico, tick This is a real address first: Google's terms do not allow made-up US addresses.
What the customer sees
Nothing, when the address is fine. When something looks wrong, a card titled Check your shipping address shows on the Thank you page with the address they entered and, when there is one, a suggested address with the buttons Use suggested address and Keep the address I entered. See What is an address verification?.
