Start From a Template With the Statutory Amount Already Filled In

Most mandatory fees are set by a jurisdiction, not the merchant. Fee templates carry those facts into Magical Fees so you don't have to research them: the statutory amount, the fee title the jurisdiction prescribes for the receipt, whether the fee is taxed, and where it applies. There are 34 templates today, covering container deposits for seven US states, ten Canadian provinces and territories, Germany, Ireland, Poland, and Singapore; mattress recycling for California, Oregon, and Rhode Island; California battery fees; US tariffs on imports from China, Canada, and Mexico; and credit card and processing fees. Open a template, confirm which of your products it covers (deposit templates ask for pack-size option values, product templates ask for a collection, tariffs ask which products carry the duty), and click Activate. If a sales channel still needs setup, the fee is created as a draft with a checklist that walks you through the theme embed, POS tile, or draft-order setting and checks itself off when the app detects the change. Every fee then shows where it works, channel by channel, and reports the first real order it was seen on.
