France5 jurisdictionsMandatory

Overview

France requires producers and importers of furniture and furnishing products to pay eco-participation fees that fund end-of-life collection, recycling, and disposal programs. The system, managed by Ecomaison (formerly Eco-mobilier), covers indoor and outdoor furniture, bedding (mattresses, pillows, comforters), shelving and panels, and textile decorations (curtains, rugs, blinds). Fees are modulated based on product recyclability, material composition, durability, and eco-design. The eco-participation must be displayed separately on invoices and at the point of sale. This is distinct from the DEEE eco-participation on electronics.
