Stephen Smith·Published · Last updated help

On the Online Store, you can edit the text in the pop-up that requests customer consent for fees.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
  3. Click into the App embeds section using the icon along the left-hand side of the page.
  4. Open the Magical Fees App embed.
  5. Under Fees required message input the custom message for the customer consent section.
  6. Click Save to publish the change.

For Plus merchants using the Plus plan you can edit the text in the checkout editors.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout.
  2. Find the live checkout that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
  3. Open the Magical Product Fees App block.
  4. Under Fees required message input the custom message for the customer consent section.
  5. Click Save to publish the change.

Always label deposits separately for compliance

Display bottle deposit fees as a clearly labeled, separate line item at checkout and on receipts. This meets regulatory transparency requirements, builds customer trust by showing exactly what they're paying, and makes it significantly easier to track deposits for reporting and audits. Use a clear label like "Bottle deposit" or "Container deposit (CRV)" so customers immediately understand the charge.
