Overview
The UK's WEEE Regulations require all producers placing electrical and electronic equipment on the UK market to register with the relevant environmental regulator (Environment Agency for England, with separate regulators for Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) and join an approved producer compliance scheme. Registration fees are tiered by producer size and turnover. Producers must meet annual collection targets for waste electronics, or pay a compliance fee as an alternative. The regulations were amended in 2025 to update requirements. Producers selling online to UK consumers are subject to WEEE obligations regardless of where they are based.
