How to create a Rule with Magical Preorder

Kyle Godon·help

Creating a rule is how you define which products are available for preorder and how they behave throughout the preorder timeline.

Steps to Create a Rule

  1. Click the View Rules button from your dashboard to go to the Rules page.
  2. Click the Create Rule button.
  3. In the Essentials section:
    • Enter a Title for your rule. This title will appear in your list of rules and may be included in customer-facing emails. Use something clear and specific like: “Blue Snowboard – July 10 Launch.”
    • Select the product(s) this rule applies to.
  4. Configure the three-stage preorder settings:
    • Preview Stage – Show product details without allowing purchases.
    • Active Stage – Allow customers to place preorders.
    • Closed Stage – End the preorder and prevent further purchases.

Each stage can be turned on or off using the toggle in the top-right corner of its section.

For example, if you’re only planning to run a preorder campaign without a preview, you can disable the Preview stage.
