To charge a mattress recycling or disposal fee, you’ll want to set up a fixed fee for specific products or collections. Here’s how:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Apps and open Magical Product Fees.
- Click Create fee.
- Choose the Function Method.
- Enter a title, like “Mattress Recycling Fee.”
- Add a description in the Details field for customers to see at checkout.
- Under Type, select Product.
- In the Calculation section, choose Fixed amount and enter the fee you want to charge.
- Set how often the fee applies:
- Every product for each item, or
- Once per product to charge the fee just once per product, no matter the quantity.
- For bundling, select Matching Product so the fee is linked directly to the mattress or related product.
- Under product selection, choose Specific products or Specific collections, and select the mattresses or products that require this fee.
- If you need the fee to apply by location, you can add location conditions.
- Click Save.
This will make sure your mattress recycling or disposal fee is added to the right products at checkout.
Always label deposits separately for compliance
Display bottle deposit fees as a clearly labeled, separate line item at checkout and on receipts. This meets regulatory transparency requirements, builds customer trust by showing exactly what they're paying, and makes it significantly easier to track deposits for reporting and audits. Use a clear label like "Bottle deposit" or "Container deposit (CRV)" so customers immediately understand the charge.
